Metro Service Station Clontarf revamp

The Challenge

Competition among service stations is always high, and Metro Service Station was feeling the pinch in Clontarf, Queensland. The business needed a serious boost to start driving more feet through the door and more sales through the register.

The small store floor left too little room between aisles for customers to browse comfortably, meaning fewer products were displayed and fewer were seen. With only two fuel pumps on the premises, customers would often have to line up and wait before filling, further deterring those passing by. These factors combined with the aged interior made for a service station experience that was starting to lag behind competitors.

In reaching out to Conform Developments, the people at Metro Service Station took the initiative in bringing the profits back to the property. Through renovation and improved signage we’ve been able to breathe new life into the business, creating a refreshed modern site that will thrive for years to come.

The Solution

Providing pre-existing businesses with a facelift and renewing them for continued success is Conform Development’s bread and butter.

This is the service we provided for the Metro Service Station in Clontarf, Queensland.

We renovated the store, increasing its size from 100 to 160 square meters. The flooring and ceilings have been replaced and the walls received a much-needed new coat of paint.

New installations included a cool room, point of sale counter and the addition of a third fuel pump.

Also expanded was the confectionary selection with the introduction of popular imported American snacks.

These major changes to the Metro Service Station ensured a comprehensive shopping experience for the everyday customer and a competitive business model to outperform competing service stations.

The Impact

The benefits of our work have been clear from the start.

Each customer who steps into the store is now welcomed by a fresh and modern atmosphere. The new cool room allows for quick and simple restocking, decreasing the workload and keeping cold beverages available at all times. The additional fuel pump has improved the traffic in the driveway and store, allowing Metro Service Station to make the most of peak business hours. The new POS counter makes for a faster checkout, increasing the efficiency of all purchases and making for a more satisfying shop.

Our renovation of Metro Service Station in Clontarf has resulted in an increase of retail sales by 30% and an increase in fuel sales by over 25%.

The efforts of Conform Developments have come together to create an improved experience for the customers, the workers and a greater return on investment.

After purchasing the property for $600k, Octane needed to upgrade the premises to compete with the modern market. Working with a large block of land, there were a few development opportunities that might generate ROI for the brand. But where to start? And how to know what opportunities are more valuable than others?
